Congratulations on your new job! Where will you be working?

Thanks, I’m very happy. I’m going to be working at Marfeel, where a number of Ubiqum students have been hired.

What were you doing before signing up for our course?

I was a Traffic Engineer, so I did traffic simulations and predictions and worked to optimise traffic lights. Whilst working here, I was in contact with a lot of senior Developers, which led me to realise how much I liked it and it was then that I decided that I too wanted to become a Developer.

What was your main concern before starting?

I wasn't sure I would be ready to enter the world of web development after only five months, but now, after completing the course, I see that with this type of methodology it’s possible. I’ve already found a job so this proves that it’s doable. It’s all happened so fast.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best choice?

What Ubiqum offered in terms of course content really appealed. It wasn't just front-end web development, I saw the course covered the programming language Java so knew that coming out I would be able to be a Full Stack Developer. I liked that it was 5 months long, made up of 800 hours, and the learn by doing methodology enticed me. When I saw the high placement rate of Ubiqum students in Web Developer roles I knew this was the place for me.

Do you think our Learn by Doing methodology has been effective?

Yeah, it has definitely been effective, it makes you think a lot about what you’re doing. Being set up like a real job, with stand up meetings and real projects, I can see how this totally relates to what I'm going to be doing at my new job. I know that they work in this way.

What would you say to someone who is considering changing careers and going into web development?

Technology and web development is the future. There’s plenty of work - this is shown by the fact that 96% of Ubiqum students are hired almost immediately after completing the course. If you want to learn extra things related to programming you can always ask the mentors, who are keen to help you develop your learning further. There are plenty of resources and people on hand to guide you.
