Congratulations on your new job! Where will you be working?

Thank you! I’m going to be working at Seidor as a Java developer. Mostly I’ll be working on the back-end but there will also be some front-end development. It’s exactly what I was looking for.

What were you doing before signing up for our course?

I was a graphic designer and I’d also done some work in marketing. My background interested Seidor as the projects I’d be working on were related to online shops, specifically PrestaShop, and this prior experience would no doubt help when programming the back-end.

Why did it seem like the right moment in your life to sign up for the course?

When I signed up for the Full Stack Java program I was unemployed and looking for something different. I have friends who are programmers who enjoy their work so I started looking into web development and tried programming myself.

What was your main concern before starting?

I had many concerns, the biggest of which was that I wouldn’t end up finding a job because I don’t have a university degree. But I’ve managed it, and it wasn’t difficult!

Do you think our Learn by Doing methodology has been effective?

Yes, I do. The first day you feel a little lost but you quickly get used to it. My group was like my team and we just got on with it. Though you’re learning autonomously, you also have the help of those around you; be it your colleagues, the mentors, or those from other cohorts. What I like best is that you put into practice everything you learn as you go, and that way, you actually remember it.

How helpful did you find the Career Placement service?

The week-long Boosting My Career program that Ubiqum offers helped me to feel more confident in practical things like creating a CV and answering technical interview questions. They also made me feel more secure as, with their support, I knew I would find a job.

Would you recommend Ubiqum and if so, why?

Yes, definitely! In fact, I already have. I loved that you felt you were already working as a Java developer from day one. Therefore when you finish the course and start your new job, it’s not as if you’ve been unemployed for 5 months, instead it’s like going from one job to another - the transition is very smooth. The fact that it’s intensive is definitely a plus as you learn so much in a short space of time!

What would you say to someone who is unhappy in their job or looking for work?

Doing Ubiqum’s Full Stack Java program is a great investment as you will come out of it with a job! And if you enjoy programming, you’ll have a great time, like I have. I’ve made friends and I’ve found a job that I like.
