Congratulations on your new job! Where will you be working?

Thanks! I actually had quite a few offers to choose from, but I finally settled on Dizzy Data, where I'll be working as a Software Developer.

What were you doing before signing up for our course?

I was working in finance. I spent 10 years working in this sector before I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t for me anymore. It wasn’t what I was passionate about so I decided to make a change. As a kid, I liked to play video games and use the internet but I had never explored programming as a career, even though it appealed. In the nineties there weren’t as many possibilities as there are now. I thought it was time to explore this area due to the opportunities it offers.

Was it difficult to make the decision to change careers?

Funnily enough, it actually wasn’t that difficult. I knew that I didn’t want to stay in finance and it was something that I’d been thinking about for quite a while, so really it was quite easy. I did a couple of little online courses in order to get some basic knowledge but I wanted to find something more immersive.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best choice?

I found out about Ubiqum in the newspaper and as I already knew I wanted to get into programming, it was just what I was looking for. It stood out as as the best option because of the length of the course and the price. I read the syllabus and liked that Ubiqum offered full-stack training through a very practical methodology.

Do you think our Learn by Doing methodology has been effective?

Yes, definitely. I had some previous experience learning in this way through doing online courses. However, what’s great about doing the on-site course at Ubiqum is that you have the help and support of the mentors. Inevitably, there are moments when you get stuck, but they’re on hand to guide you.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

I would recommend Ubiqum because of the extensive curriculum and the fact that it’s directed to turning you into a Full-Stack Developer. Also, Ubiqum is a great environment to be a part of; there are always good vibes between the students and the mentors and you can see that they are 100% invested in your development. But it’s not just the mentors, it’s the Friday breakfasts, the fact that you can go to anyone and ask anything - everyone’s very open and friendly. In a master’s, for example, you only have one professor, here you have the help of the entire team.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I’ve had a great time. Some moments were more difficult than others but Bruno and Raül, the mentors I had more contact with, were always there to help. I’m excited to carry on learning and building upon the knowledge and skills I’ve already obtained.
