What were you doing before our course?

I had my own Start-Up in biotech. We were starting to get some traction and I was keen to explore areas that were becoming increasingly relevant to us, namely in research, technology, analytics and data management.

What motivated you to take the course?

In truth, it wasn't only the Start-Up, it came from a while ago. I did a year of economics and then a psychology degree. I needed to find something more transferable. I found that Data Analytics helped me see numbers within a new, more tangible perspective.

What was the most difficult thing you found on the course?

Difficult, nothing per se was difficult. Perhaps the hardest thing is the start: you have no idea what's going to happen and you have a lot of doubts about what you're doing. But in truth, you never forget that you are investing in your own future, and that really helps keep you motivated throughout the challenges on the course.

Do you think our methodology works?

Yeah of course otherwise I wouldn't have got hired! (chuckle). In spite of that, it's true that the methodology has helped me see the bigger picture, take a business orientated and pragmatic approach, that otherwise would seem like just another table of numbers.

Why might you recommend Ubiqum?

To start with the mentors and team. They help you get hired and in a job that meets your expectations.

Talking of your new job, how is it? Are you happy?

I'm delighted. They've (Geenapp) have hired me as a Junior Analyst. My functions will include, cleaning and organising Databases. Then improving and creating new predictive models. Finally, the long term goal is to make the database 'smart' by creating protocols that will automatically detect errors.

What advice would you give to someone that's considering changing their career?

Do it without a doubt, if your career isn't giving you personal satisfaction. The truth is that when you find a place, a job, a project, that allows you to get the best out of yourself, you see the end of the tunnel more clearly. With Ubiqum, it's brought a lot out of me, and not just me it's the entire experience I've had with my classmates. It's something really nice and quite rare to find.

To finish, one obligatory question. How would you describe your experience in Ubiqum?

I've been really impressed. On the one hand I've acquired knowledge of Data Analytics, Big Data and programming... on the other hand I have learnt to become part of a team that I will get on with for years to come and lastly I've found a place that's become a second home to me.
