We realise that you may have a lot of questions about our courses. This is an important decision to make, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you can´t find the information you´re looking for. Here are some questions we are commonly asked:
I’m not sure which course to start with, what would you recommend?
If you don’t have any previous coding experience, don’t hesitate to ask a representative to help you figure out which course is best for you. Our “Create Your First Website” course is also a great introduction you can use to get familiar with programming.
Do I need any programming knowledge?
No. Our methodology – “Story Centered Curriculum” – guarantees that any motivated person who is interested in technology can learn how to program. The learning focuses on “doing”, with tasks starting at a basic level and gradually increasing in complexity. You will also be supported by a mentor, who will keep you on track with the pace of the course.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
Yes, students should bring their own computer.
PC or Mac.
Intel or compatible processor. 100 GB hard disk (minimum). Operating system: Linux, Mac OS (Intel based) or Windows. Network connection card. Fast Internet connection. Current copy of Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office for Mac. We will ask you to download some free open-source tools during the course.
Can I finance the course fees?
Yes. You can pay for the Java Web & Mobile Developer and Data Analytics & Big data courses as follows:
a) Pay the full sum before the course start date with a 10% discount. The total amount is €5,400.
b) Pay 25% before the course starts and pay the rest after you get a job. For a course worth €6,000, you would pay €1,500 before starting the date and €4,500 according to the terms and conditions found in the contract.
We have financing options available through financial institutions, such as La Caixa. Ask us about it with no commitment!

Are the courses classroom-based or online?
These are full-time onsite courses. But the classroom you will be using doesn’t look like any school you have seen before. The workspace is the same you would find in leading technology companies – spacious desk, grouped together with other coders, usual amenities provided. All of the content is digital and can be accessed from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Our programs simulate the real life of a software developer.
Are there any grants or scholarships available?
We are committed to helping intelligent and motivated young people find work in the world of technology. We want to reward students with excellent academic records who want to develop their professional futures with us. We periodically launch discount plans and grants for specific targets. Ask for the current ones.
Are there any group discounts available?
If you bring a friend, we will offer you both a 10% discount on the cost of your course.
Will I have a certification at the end of the course?
Ubiqum issues its own certificates for course completion. The certificate details the knowledge you have acquired and the hours of training you have finished.
What is your teaching methodology?
Our methodology: Story Centered Curriculum.
There are no lectures or exams, only projects similar to the ones found in real tech jobs. The projects get more complex throughout the course. You will learn skills that you will be able to apply immediately in your working life. You will be guided at all times by an expert tutor, who will accompany you on your learning journey and evaluate the tangible results of your work, as well as give you feedback so you can continue to improve.
What is a Story Centered Curriculum (SCC) and how does it work?
SCC is a learning methodology that focuses 100% on learning by doing. You will work on real projects that professionals encounter and use the same tools as them. You will have a mentor available at all times to provide help and evaluate your work.
We offer you a work environment where you can feel free to make mistakes and learn from them without suffering any negative consequences. The courses also have extensive online resources and help available for every project.
Why is SCC better than traditional courses?
The SCC methodology pursues two objectives that differentiate it from a traditional course:
1. It ensures that the learning is transferable to the workplace. The courses are designed to emulate the work environment that data analysts and web developers work in.
2. Motivation. In order to learn a complicated skill, students must put in a great amount of effort. Many educational programs are theoretical and boring. In an SCC, students can clearly see how the hard work they put in will be relevant to their future job. SCC directly connects students’ efforts with their professional goals.
How does an SCC differ from a traditional course?
It is different in everything: There are no classes, no studying abstract concepts from a book, and no exams. The best way to see how it works is to sign up for our 20 hour workshop, which you can find on the Homepage.
How does an SCC differ from the currently fashionable MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses)?
MOOCs have taken the worst aspects of the traditional system and scaled them online. They provide boring online lectures with multiple choice tests. Their completion rate is less than 10%. However, with an SCC, the completion rate is almost 100%.
In an SCC the students also work in a realistic professional context, work in a team, and perform tasks that are immediately transferable to the workplace. Students receive constant help and feedback from the mentor about the tasks they are performing and their results.
What are the completion ratio and satisfaction levels for SCC programs?
Our experience to date has shown:
– Completion rate of 90%
– Employment rate of 80%, two months upon completing the course
– Annual starting salary of€18-22k
You can read our students’ testimonials for a better idea of Ubiqum. Everything we do is to help you start your professional life as a data analyst, web developer, or mobile developer. If you put in your best effort, we will do the rest.
What is the mentor's role in program?
Mentors act as Project Managers, overseeing the students’ work as they take on the role of developers. Mentors also help dissolve doubts, create deadlines, evaluate students’ work, and provide feedback. They also have the advanced technical knowledge to help students with any struggle. Mentors are completely committed to helping students succeed.
How much access do students have to the mentor?
You and your team will have constant access to your mentor, both in the classroom and via communication methods outside the classroom. The mentor also has a series of weekly meetings with each team and individual to evaluate their progress in the course.
What do I need to know before starting an SCC course?
Prepare yourself for hard work. An SCC is like going to the gym: The harder you work, the more you develop. The skills you develop are immediately applicable in the real world. Like the saying goes, “No pain, no gain.” At Ubiqum, the gain is life changing and worth the effort.
